Does this situation discribe yours?

If the car has sat for a few days, it starts fine.

If you drive it, stop in a store for 10 mintues and start it, it starts fine.

If you leave it sit for an hour or two, perhaps over night, it takes longer to cranks.

When it is hard starting, try to press the throttle down about 1/3 and see if it starts quicker.

All this points to injectors that are leaking, as in they leak fuel when the engine is off and thus makes it really rich when starting.

Other hard starts can be caused by the cold start vavle, but this is usually when it is cold out, as in below 70 and the engine is cold.

And then ignition is sometimes a cause.

The first situation is what I am experiencing. And it is a good excuse for those 24lb injectors I wanted.

Mark.

yes mark that sounds like thats the problem. whats the life span on these injectors once they are in this condition? do you know?

I don't know what the life span is, or if there is one. There probably is only a couple of injectors leaking. You could try some fuel additive and see if that helps, or you could get a fuel injector cleaning with one of those kits that attach to the fuel rail. The best would be to get the injectors sonicly cleaned.

As you can see the costs can get quite high, so best to determine the problem before spending too much money.

For what it worth, I tried one of those additives and has not done anything. Perhaps I need to run a couple tanks through. I might just buy new 24lb injectors this winter. They would be better suited to my application anyways.
