ecm ?'s

im gonna be converting to tpi here soon. the ecm i have, is for a 305 tpi auto. my question is should i get an ecm thats for a 305 tpi manual since i have the t-5. does it matter which one i use? would i be fine just running the auto ecm?

I am certain it does matter, can't recall all the reasons, but only in the PROM. You just need a manual trans prom for the ecm.

As PneumaticTire said, the ECM's are the same, its the prom inside that is different. With a stockish engine, it probably wont matter, but there are subtle differences that might make it tougher to run a manual with an automatic prom. The Idle Air motor is one. The car will probably want to stall when you push in the clutch while slowing down.

what year is youre auto prom? if you are going to buy the manual one, maybe ill buy the auto one.

thanks for info guys. 8T9 bandit my prom is from an 87. ill prolly just run with it as is for a lil while. and then switch to the manual prom once i really starting modifing the tpi.
