Speedo gears for 700R4 and 3.73's

I am going from 2.73's to 3.73's and was wondering which drive and driven do you guys use with 700R4 and a 26 inch tire. In the tech section it says a 15 and 45 tooth set has anybody used these and how did they work?

Nobody has any experience with the 2 gears and sleeve? The parts guy at the chev. dealer said that maybe I could get by with a "adapter" that fits btw. the 2 gears, he said there is a 73% adapter available. He said guys with pickups use them after gear swaps but also said there is alot of clearance there also.

You have the right combination of gears and the swap isn't that hard. In fact a friend of mine did the write up on this in the tech section. I haven't done mine yet.... I've got to get down to GM and get the gears.

Re: Speedo gears for 700R4 and 3.73's

Sorry to bring up an old thread but rather continue with the same subject than start a new thread about the same thing. My front tires are 245/50r16 which is a 25.65 and rear tires are 235/55r16 which is a 26.18 (googled myself a tire size chart).

#1. Is it safe to consider both front and rear 26" tires for my speedo gears?
#2. And are these the correct speedo gears for the 700r4 trans? I ask because the driven gear says "GM turbo-hydromatics" which i was thinking that it was referring to the TH350 or TH400.

Front tire size doesn't matter. The rear tires, rear end gears, and speedo gears are all that matter. Scroll down to the speedo gear section for a speedometer gear calculator in this link. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...n_______va.htm

26.18 is probably close enough not to matter. Turbo Hydramatic refers to more transmissions than the 350 and 400. They're just the most famous.
