TPI Air intake

Just under the filters on a stock camaro air intake are easily removable "walls" that cause the incomming air to make two complete u-turns. I have done some research and found that these are to prevent water from getting into the engine. What is the possiblity of that? I have K&Ns, and I was told the oil on those will stop the water, is that true? I am just thinking that if I pull those it will give the incomming air a much smother path. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The best thing to do is to cut the whole bottom box off! Thats what "gutting" of the airboxes means.

I didn't "gut" out my boxes, but I did remove those baffles - even before I had K&N's.

I agree with Randy92Z...I would cut out the whole bottum just leave the lip for the filter to seal on. Ive driven my car in the rain may times and checked to see if there was any water. I did notice on the highway the car felt a little more responsive.

If you run a ram air type setup from the Fog lights then you might have a problem with water in the rain.
