Newly installed TPI ..lacking throttle response..any ideas??
I just installed TPI on my 82 Corvette and removed the carburetor that was on it when I purchased the car.
It runs great other than the fact that it doesn’t seem to respond like I want it to when I punch the throttle.
I had a bone stock 87 Firebird Formula with a 5.7 TPI engine a few years ago and you couldn’t keep it on the road, if you barely punch the gas it wanted to take off on you.
Kind of an in-your-seat reaction when you punched it….these engines are known for low end torque…..
What am I missing here?? Any suggestions on what could be wrong on my car that would cause it to do this? It takes off fine and doesn’t miss or bog down….just doesn’t squall tires or snap your neck like I feel it should. Everything (gaskets, sensors etc) is brand new on the engine.
I'm not sure if the kickdown is working correctly though, I'm scared it may have came unhooked...

What motor did the TPI intake come off of? If it came off of a 305 then the injectors will not be big enough to fuel that 350. Same goes for the prom. You need a 350 prom. Also i would check to make sure ur TPS is adjusted correctly.

It's a 90-92 style speed density set-up.
I went out and did some digging, I don't think my TV cable was set correctly. It was all the way foward....I moved it back about 1/8".
Hopefully that's what the problem was, because mostly the it wasn't kicking into passing gear. I'm sure that has an effect on take off's from a dead start too.
I wrestled with a miss, high idle, timing ect since I installed this last week...but it's all coming together now....everything else has been fixed...I'm getting excited!
Thanks again,
Dennis
