I need HELP putting a TPI on a 383!!!!!!

Ok guys I know that TPI is definitely your turf till now I have ran carb and I am building a 350 with the older style heads which are 2.02 well i can get a good deal on a 85-86 TPI well I dont know that much thats why i am here so I need some kind of chart to tell me what all I need Is there a good manual that will show me what I need? Is the wiring harness different on the 85-86 than on the other TPI because it dont have a harness and i was thinking of a painless wiring harness.
Thanks for any help

First of all, the 85 and 86 TPI systems are VERY different, with different wiring harnesses and ECMs. The 85 harness can be used with an 86 ECM, but there are some repinnings that need to be done to make it work. Stay away from the 85 setup with the old "870" computer, you will also need to buy a Burnoff module which will run you around $900 if you can find it. Go with the 86-90 "165" ECM, my swap from the 85 setup cost altogether around $150 for parts.

A stock TPI setup wont flow enough to take advantage of that 383 your building.

I built a 383 with TFS heads, and I installed a stock TPI on it and it didnt run much faster.... .2 tenths to be exact. i upgraded my TPI to a Superram and it was like night and day. I dont know how much money your willing to spend, but maybe get an aftermarket base like Edelbrocks and some AS@M runners to make some decent H.P.

If you have a carb'd engine now, and want to switch to TPI, I'd get the Accel Super Ram conversion kit. Its about $3000, but it includes what you need to convert your car to EFI with a SuperRam intake.
