At what point is it necessary to use a chip>>>

Give scenarios for both MAF and SD please. What mods can be done without having to get a chip. I want reliability and no surging idle or funny stuff.

Axle/Gears: 2 much 4 street not enough for strip
I'm running my stock chip still with the mods in my signature. About as radical as you can get without going to a supercharger.

Idle does surge a little bit, but not a nuisance.

Sparks a flyin'.

stock chips sux ...I did a 100 mile test drive with both a stock 87 chip and a ADS chip i got two MPG more with the ADS chip and a hell of alot better drivablity...much better throttle responce
