Timing?

Alright Let me give you guys the run down.

1. Backfire through intake while cold( fine while hot), Unplugged MAf no change, made sure timing was at 6 degrees. ( even advanced it this morning to 8, seemed to help a bit, BUT the issue is still there)

2. While the est was bypassed, the timing would jump back and forth about 2 degrees when i tapped the throttle, even more if i opened it up more.

3. When hot, the car idles high, then cuts out for about a 300 RPM and catches itself.

Now, ive compiled these things to be, 1. A Sloppy timing chain needing replacement ( it do's run a little rough), or a Bad computer, or maybe even a bad ignition module ( late ignition)? Ive heard they do funky things when they go and i need a second opinion on all these, because i start a new job at a dealership on the 19th and would prefer to have reliable transportation

IMo, its probly the chain and ignition module but! i could be wrong

Thanks guys!
