Worn Throttle Shaft
Mine seems awfully loose. Id does have over 210,000 miles on it. I wonder if it is actually causing a vacuum leak. Can the TB be rebuilt with a new shaft and bushings, or something?
If so, could someone please tell me how to take it apart without ruining it?

That happened to my dad's multiport v6, the throttle body bushing was so worn that the pedal was getting stuck! The mechanic he went to (not our usual guy, he was booked that day) put a new bushing in it, but after less than a year, it also failed. We went after a junkyard unit; and didn't have any problems after that. (remember to reset the TPS on the junkyard TB!)
A machine shop might do a much better job..?

PJ, I had the same problem on my 86IROC so I used the tb off my 85 and solved the problem. The 86 would idle to fast after the first time you touched the gas pedal. You could manualy close it with your hand and it would idle great but one it was moved it would idle fast again.
Afterward I took the tb apart and let my brother who is a machinist for Boeing look at it. He and mysefl came to the conclusion that it would take a lot of work to put bushings where none exsisted to begin with.
I'm not saying it can't be done just not very easily.
Hope this helps.
