anyone who installed SLP runner tubes, please enter!

I just got them today. When I got to the installation insructions I was like what the **** is this? there are 25
****ing steps that you have to follow!I raed this and damn it is something like removing the entire tpi
system.Do I have to do the steps or can I just remove the stock runners and put the SLP's runners on in its
place?

Just pull the plenum and the old runners. Mount the old ones, leaving the bolts a little loose so the plenum goes on easily. Then tighten everything up. Remember the bolts that bolt from the back of the runners, one back by the distributor and one up by the IAC. Port the plenum while you have it off!

Yes I agree they were a Bit(H, with the bolts going in from the back. I ported my plenum when i had the runners off to match the runners and don't forget to trim the gasket to match the runners to. I have no clue why they give you gaskets that don't match the ports. Be careful though the MAT sensor need to be disconnected befor you pull to hard. Also I would install and Ajustable fuel pressure regulator while you are at it.

I wish it had been that easy.I don't know about anyone else who put them on but the hardest part was removeing the old gasket material from the friggin intake manifold where it meets the bottom of the runners!I was scrapeing with chisels and sprayeing with gasket remover for 3 days!If I had to do it again,I would have waited and bought a new manifold also.I hope you don't run into that problem because if their is gasket material on their you won't get a tight enough seal and it will leak and run like ****.

My buddy had this little air sander that came with stick on scotch-brite type pads. That thing made short work of the toughest gasket residue!

Oh yeah,I forgott about that, its been about 6 months,I finally got it off with a dremmel tool and it still took me hours and ate 2 bits and I kept getting tangled up in the damn rags I stuck in the ports so no dust would go in.Now you see what you did,I had forgotten about it and now I'm going to have nightmares about it again tonight.

If someone hasnt mentioned it already. Dont forget to plug in the air temp sensor before you bolt the plenum back on. Its a b*&ch to get it on after.

Also tighten the plenum and base bolts down evenly. Dont just bolt the runners on to the base and then try to bolt on the plenum. Dont torque anything down till you have all the bolts snug. You will have a better chance of not tearing any gaskets or creating vacuum leaks this way.

Good luck!
