Dissy help, misfire problems

About 2 years ago i bought cap, rotor, plugs, wire from advance auto. Ran great for the longest time. Then it start to slowly run like crap. Well i found water in my cap dried it out and slapped it togther it helped it run better for a little while then it went bad again and the cap looks burnt up. My question is, is there anything you all recommand for me to get besides cap, rotor, plugs, wire. I have a feeling that just doing that might not fix my problem totally. Also any specific brand? I normally get AC delco plugs, then get the cheapo cap rotor and plugs.

Do you all think the coil or that module or both when bad? should i replace them also? Is there a place to check for resistance or voltage or something on the coil or module? I don't care so much about the plugs wires cap and rotor those will get replaced no problem, it's just if the other parts on my dissy went bad i'd like to start of right. Please help thanks in advance. I've not driven this thing for the longest time, because it's been running like crap, I used to be about to smoke the tires but she's in pain today.

You bought cheap parts last time see where it got you. Cheap doesn't mean much if you have to replace them every year or two. I personally prefer all Delco, I have had good luck with Borg-Warner parts or Standard motor products Blue Streak line. Spend a little more for quality and you will spend less later.

I haven't had to try it myself but I have heard some people putting dielectric grease on the dist cap where it mounts to the dizzy. Supposed to help seal against moisture. Try the basics first since you know you have a problem with the cap, good quality parts
