Re: code 34 maf

unplug the MAF. Does it run better? If so, MAF is probably the culprit, but you should also test the burnoff and power relays for the maf first.

Re: code 34 maf

depends on what relay, if either is malfunctioning. Check the terminals and wires at the connectors for the relays. The relays are the 3 up on the firewall. The other one is the fuel pump relay. You could even through the 20 bucks it would cost to just simply try replacing them anyway. Better then a 200 dollar guess, or spending a daig fee at a shop to figure it out. I feel your pain, I'm about to buy a MAF for my 86, I am certain my MAF is bad though, cause I hooked up the scanner to it at my shop, and it reads INSANE G/sec at idle. It reads 1700 with or without it unplugged, and If I understood my diag flow chart correctly, the MAF can go bad, and the ECM will just use default values set in the prom. Sometimes I get a light, other times I don't. I guess it depends on when the ecm feels like tripping the light it will, lol. I got a AC delco reman coming at me, at a special price. Shop price.

well i unplug the wire going to the maf to see if its getting power it does so i guess the maf isnt working at all.and i do get a light, stay on all the time,it read out 34 so it must be the problem.im going to try to find one at a junk yard (25 bucks) plus all parts comes with a 30 day warrenty from there.
