running rich? issues starting.
I have replaced my burnoff relay, and coolant temp sensor. i have stripped the smogpump and associated debris from the engine. i am now getting no codes, and all in all its running much better. problem is when i first start it, its running too rich and takes a few tries to get going.
I purchased a data cable and recorded a couple runs. the thing that threw me is the maf is registering 5g/s with the engine not running. should it not be at 0 with no air flow occuring? could that be a reference voltage issue, or am i looking at a damaged maf sensor? i can only assume if its reading air flow when the engine is not running, its flooding itself as i try to start it.
any suggestions? should i just replace the sensor?
thanks everyone, i appreciate your help.

Re: running rich? issues starting.
Hey well i was having starting problems too. It took me a while to start it up when cold. I replaced my temp sensor messed with all my plug wires to make sure they were on. etc. It turned out to be my fuel pump relay. Some one on here says if it takes a while to turn on its cause the relay isnt working right and the ecm waits to get pressure from the oil pressure switch to turn the engine on as a default. just a suggestion to look into. As for the fuel? Im in the same boat im getting 12mpg mixed driving mostly freeway.

i am getting on average 20mpg. i checked on my fuel pump... it is coming right on and reaching pressure in time. i think my maf is reading the wrong value, but i don't know what its supposed to be. any ideas?
