Need more power in 3rd

Got into it with a mustang GT (new one) coming back from the mall tonight. He drafted me from behind and went to pass me..i dropped it in 3rd gear and floored it..he finally got past me though. So I figured I'd try it again. This time I get behind him, in 4th gear going 80mph I go to pass him and blow him away more than he did me.

Heres my question . It always feels like I lose power in 3rd gear. I'll speed shift from 2nd gear into 3rd and it feels like theres a big drop in torque right after i shift into 3rd. Power doesnt pick up until 3000 RPMS. Any suggestions?

I have a set of SLP 1 5/8th headers I havent put on yet and I'm ordering the Comp Cam 08-304-8 this week.
thanks

Aside from a good cold air set-up (which drastically helped me) I think a nice custom chip is next on your Christmas list. That could definetly wake the car up w/ those mods.

Thanks.

I got the cold air setup. I do need a custom chip however. Especially with speed density.
I think the cam and SLP headers should be enough for now ( I hope).

If not theres always underdrive pullies and the custom prom.

I know my chip helped me shave almost a full second in my 1/4 mile times. The car was close to stock performance with all the mods peformed. I got the equipment and started burning my own chips. After about 20 or so chips I finally got it dialed in where it runs very low 13s. Dont ask me where I got the chip, cose like I said I made it mysef
