My Winter Project
My Winter Project
Well, here goes it. Right now my car (1986 Camaro Berlinetta) is resting comfortable in my garage with the LG4 in it. And, like most LG4 owners, I realize my car is too slow. Here comes the whole project thing...
Also in my garage is a 78 4 Bolt Main 350 block (bored .060 over) and a complete TPI setup (including wiring harness)from a 87 IROC. By spring, I hope to have the 350 in with the TPI setup and everything working.
My first question deals with the ECM. I'm guessing a custom chip is in order with this application. Where would be the best place for me to get my hands on one? I'm guessing everything else in the wiring/computer will work except for the chip?
Next comes the cam. How big of a cam can I run with the stock TPI setup? I was looking in Summit, specifically at the CompCams High Energy Series. Would the 268H (218 int/218 exh duration @ .050, .454 lift) be too much for this? How about the cam a step down, the 260H?
1.6 Roller Rockers? Good purchase?
The heads I got with this block the guy said were TPI heads, so I'm guessing they are LB9 heads or L98 heads. I'm planning on bringing these to the machine shop to get ported. Will this be worth it or should I just save up and invest in some better aftermarket heads?
Hmm... thats all I can think of for now. I'm sure I'll have more questions later -=)

The first cam seems to small to me. I would run the 3rd one but will just changing the chip in the TPI setup be ok for it? Would I need to make any other mods to the TPI system?
