Need help sorting this out Code 13,36,43
Hello.
Can someone help me interpret why this is happening to my car. As shown in my sig I probably have a real low compression car (bought it like this). Bummer. Anyway, I read the error codes by jumping 5&6 and got a 13, 36 and 43.
13. Oxygen sensor signal stays lean during warm engine cruise
36. Burn off at mass air flow sensor OR
Problem in transmission shift OR
Fault in direct ignition system OR
Missing pulses in electronic spark timing signal
43. Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit
(cut from FAQ sect)
The car is not that fast (does not spin tires on throttle alone) and I'm trying to figure out what to do. As for the codes, I reset the computer and took a drive and read the code again. Now I only got a 13. Since I have this low CR I experimented with running 87 gas now and I get some detonation at half-full throttle at 3000RPM and up I will go back to 93 gas now. Since I have 24lbs injectors I do not see why it would give me a lean code. I had the car inspected a while ago and emissions where low at HC 0.02 CO 0.45 Nox 0.00
The test run today was made at a 35 F outside temp and the car runs at normal operating temp.
As far as the 36 and 43 code I suspect it was triggered as I trew the alternator belt a while ago and almost drained the battery. Am I right?
Also, with these codes triggered, would the car go into limp home mode? It really is a dog to drive and if I rev it under load it just wont pull more than to 4500-5000 (just before shift) where it just kinda stalls. Sure, my original TPI is limiting but this is a 305 which would give me some more RPM?
In neutral the car revs just fine and really sings, showing there is a non-peanut cam in there. I'm getting really tired of this TPI hazzle and am concerning a carb setup. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance
Bjorn.

Direct gear drive
2800 conv, 3.73 gears (open)
No-screen MAF, gutted airbox(es)
24 lbs injectors.
Accel cap+wires+plugs
Supposedly:
75 corvette heads (76 cc?) CR=low?
Steel crank.

I forgot...I know my combo i a bit mismatched and I want to straighten it out. Since I'm on a budget (understatement..) AND have to do my mechanics in the street (literay) I really need to think things through before I go ahead.
Summit sells a carb/intake combo for +$300. Add the $80 3-way fuel regulator and I would be set?

Check this site out. http://members.aol.com/mmmm999/3rd-degree/tips/tips.htm
It's got a write up by Vader on the bugged proms for 86. Also check into the part numbers on all your relays to insure they're up to date.
I was having rich idle problems with a pretty hot 350 with 24# injectors using the 305 chip. I've got 3.23 gears and bought an 88 model 350 chip 16083268 ($38.65 US),, and the car is running MUCH better. If you have a different gear ratio, check out the FAQ section here on thirdgen under "Engine/Induction". The Camaro part numbers do not have VATS.
Good luck!!!!
