QUESTION...CLICK ON ME!!!!

What is the difference between 85-87 and 88-92 TPI manifolds?

I was looking at SC setups and they have kits for only 88-92 TPI. And SLP runners have two different variations for 85-87 and 88-92.

I have been wondering this for a while, if you can answer my query I will appreciate it.

Provisions for a cold start injector (aka ninth injector) On the drivers side runner, there is an extra hole for a special injector to go into. I used a Speed and Performance plug to plug the hole when I converted to Speed Density.

Actually, '88 was the last year of the ninth injector. '89 up don't have such a crappy injector.

As GMTech eluded, the difference is the elimination of the cold start injector, but this was done for the 1989 model year. The TPI manifolds should be listed as 85-88 and 89-92.

I was looking at SC setups and they have kits for only 88-92 TPI. And SLP runners have two different variations for 85-87 and 88-92.
In this case, the variation exists because of the belt drive system used. The v-belt (multiple belts) were used from 85-87. The single serpentine was used from 88-92. This difference places the supercharger on opposite sides, 85-87 on the passenger side (Paxton is the only manufacturer that makes a kit for these years) and on the driver's side for 88-92.

I know he asked the differance between the manifolds but the reson the kits for superchargers says 88-92 isbecause they went from v-belts to a serpintine belt system.

To my knowledge there are no supercharger kits for v-belt engines. That's why I converter to an 88 serpintine belt, for maybe a future SC'er

John,

Paxton makes a supercharger kit for the '85-'87 TPI Camaros. Check out my link for pics.

alright so All I would have to do is to switch to a serpentine system.

although somehow half of my belts are serpentine and one is V-belt

Thats just the alternator belt. I think all the V-belt systems have that. I am going to convert mine to serp belt in the future just like John Millican did.
