Is .472"/.496" lift too much for the stock computer?

The subject pretty much says it all. Would .472"/.496" lift be too much for the stock TPI computer?

It's not the lift that really matters. It has more to do with duration and lobe seperation. So to answer you question, no it would not be too much lift for the stock computer.

Plastic is right, if you stay around 210@.050 with a 114 lobe seperation angle your computer shouldn't give you any problems.

Ok, thanks guys. It looks like I'll be getting a custom chip anyway.

I bet that even an after market chip like a Performance Resource or Hypertech would do the trick too.

Naah... All they do is increase timing by a couple degrees and lock up the torque convertor like 4-5 mph higher. For they money, they're a ripoff.

I agree with Blade, those "off the shelf" PROMs are not that good and definitely not worth the money you pay. You are far better off getting the equipment to burn your own PROM.

Goto Traxions's article https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml on how to burn a PROM, it really isn't that hard.

I am running a 355ci. sportsman 11 heads with major porting, LT4 Hot cam measured at 221/231 duration, and .525/.525 lift, 1.6 Comp cams pro magnum roller rockers, tons of other stuff and I am running the stock computer and stock 305 TPI chip. I have a DFI for the car and know the thing will run better, but I have been on the road this way for about a year and drive it daily. Speed density is not as sensitive as many say. Oh, I am also running a Pete Jackson gear drive...
