What does it take to achieve this? I'm going to buy a 350 soon and want these kind of numbers out of it. Any help is appreciated.
boy you is crazyy! you'd be doin some DANG serious work to a tpi to get remotely there.. i dunno if it could even be done, why dont you go w/another type of EFI that would be able to feed the amount of air you'd need much easier? but... there's something cool about being the first one to try something.. good luck
I would have to say that to get your car to run those times you would need to put your car on a diet. Get some really good heads, aftermarket runners, intake, and ported plenum, and one hell of a cam. And if that doesn't work your gonna need nitrous or a sc.
yea.. what kind of boost was he shoving in htere? enormous amount for sure. that irks me. to say 'yea i got an 11 sec car w/stock heads..' but yea, he's got what? 15psi or thereabouts AND 150 shot of nitrous ? he better be goin that fast

If u want a 350 TPI to runs 11's on all engine, u will have to mod a lot of stuff in the engine, but there are guys that have them.

Come on people, this can be done very easily. The only real restriction you have when modifying a TPI is money. If money is no concern, here is a recipe that should get you pretty close to that goal.
- TPIS Miniram with 58mm throttle body
- Aftermarket aluminum heads (these will have to flow a lot, 200cc intake runners or maybe even bigger, 2.02-1.60 valves or bigger; at least 11:1 compression ration)
- Big cam, something like 245* duration, 550” lift and a 110* lobe separation angle or bigger
- Full exhaust, this means at least 1 ¾ headers (1 7/8 would most likely be better, long tube even better) and a 3.5 or 4” catback (no cat of course; and yes, there are 4” catbacks) or a 3-3.5” cutout right before the catalytic converter
- 3000-3500 RPM Stall Converter (10” for reduced weight)
- 4.10 rear gears
- Weight reduction throughout the car (rear seats, light weight wheels, and tires, etc)
- Chassis update (subframe connectors, Aftermarket torque arm, etc)
- Extensive PROM tuning. I would go with Speed Density so the MAF is not a restriction
I might be forgetting something, but this should be enough to put you in the 11s; if this fails (which I really doubt), then you have 2 more options: a 150 hp nitrous shot or a supercharger. Either WILL definitely put you in the low 11s.
**Note that the bottom end might have to be beefed up considerably**
If you ever decide to do something like this, please post results (yeah, like if you would hold back)

Like F22 said, the only restriction is the mighty buck. My signature gives the end result, but here are most specifics:
Best e/t's:
Naturally aspirated: 14.07
90-hp shot nitrous: 12.58
Supercharged (6 psig): 12.57
Supercharged (6 psig) & 50-hp shot: 12.04
I know my best naturally aspirated time could be significantly better, but my engine was designed (and mods selected) for a supercharger. I attained these times with a 305, so with a 350.......

F22 is right on the money.plus bigger injectors,(24lb atleast),a higher pressure fuel pump,a full ignition system,a cold air,and some dragradials,or cheaterslicks and high 11's are very possible.

How about a 89 turbo trans am drivetrain?.
Good fuel pump, injectors, clever chipping, good exhuast. What speed just dial up the wastegate a tune accordingly. (overly simplified for easy viewing)
I once saw a 89 gta that ran 11.90's back home in maryland at mason dixon speedway. It had stock intake, stock tb, corvette heads and a custom ground cam. He used an accel dfi setup to dial everything in, and was on slicks. It had a vigilante converter also, w/ 1.5 60 fts. And only a trap speed of 112.

F22 is on the money. Not too difficult to get to 11's. You just need significant money because you have to replace everything but the bottom end of the engine. I should be there in the spring. I'm in the process of putting in a higher stall converter, upgrading the exhaust, and putting in a bigger cam.

I race at Mason Dixon. Was that 89 GTA red? There's a red GTA around these parts that looks stock but he has a big shot of NOS on it and runs 11's.

Personally, I do not see why 11's with a 350 TPI is that hard. If you have the money, it can be done relativley easily. Good heads, good cam, porintg of plenum-etc, new runners, all free mods, good tuning, good chip, headers with, good catback with no cat, good rear gears to with the 700R4, good converter and servo, and slicks. Not all that unlikely in my opinion.

No this was a grey one. And he was a friend of a friend. He wasnt running nitrous. This car just hooked, the chassis was setup perfect. Was about a year and a half ago since I last saw him.
