TPI on 350 carbed or TBI... HP/Torque change, quick question...
TPI on 350 carbed or TBI... HP/Torque change, quick question...
Okay so I'm stuck! I've searched and found nothing. I want to put a 90-92 TPI 350 with Speed Density in my Jeep. The problem is I can't find one. I've searched salvage yards within 200 miles. Nothing.... BUT I can get a TBI 350 or Carbed 350 and get a TPI setup on EBAY... My question is when putting TPI on a carbed or TPI engine, does the HP go up dramatically? If so how much HP/TQ (estamating) & what would be the best engine (year) to put a TPI setup on to get Torque and good HP. Remember I've got a jeep, no need for speed just power...
I've really tried searching but coudn't find anything. Any help would be great. Thanks!

just get the tpi/sensors/wiring harness/ecm off ebay, and get a 350 out of a late 80's early 90's truck.....
have the 350 rebuilt, rebuilt the tbi heads or put new heads on it, drop a mild camshaft in and put the tpi on top... should be good for about 220rwhp 320ft/lbs with the stock tbi heads

The 90-92 SD TPI 350 engines are making 245hp (GM numbers). It's because of a better tune and better cam compared to the 225hp late 80's engines.
So make sure that if you get the late 80's block, you put in the new 90's cam.
One of our local members here in Austin TX has a full TPI system available. I think he even has the longblock. I'd have to ask him.
