tpi iroc fails to start !

O.K. G.M. TECH is also helping on this one,but I thought I would throw this out there again to get some more ideas. First off, the car runs great. Starts every time in the morning. Shut the car off...then try to restart, the motor just cranks. After about 10 minutes the @#$ thing starts. This is what we do know: during no fire cond. spark at plugs=yes, fuel pressure at rail=yes, signal to injectors=yes. The car will only fire during the "no fire" stage if starter fluid is sprayed into the throttle blades. The module in dist. has been replaced along with cap and rotor. Well, there it is, my headache for oh about 3 years now.

Sounds like an injector problem. You said the noid light test is good meaning the electrical is working. Fuel pressure in rail is good and it WILL start when starting fluid is used. That alone indicates a lack of fuel but why it continues to run is beyond me. Let me dream the answer tonight.......

There might be too much cranking fuel being supplied and fouling the plugs. Is this a custom PROM? Did you try holding the pedal to the floor while cranking? The ecm sees wide open throttle during cranking as a clear flood condition.

Question: How do you start a flooded engine w/ starting fluid?

I know you said you have fuel pressure, but what EXACTLY is the fuel pressure when it won't start? (please post your reply in the ELEC board - to hard to watch the same post on different boards)
