power Gain from headers

I have Hooker comp headers I want to install But I have to remove the smog pump first. How hard is the installation ?? Time , hints, tricks??
and how much power should I gain. my current mods are below. but the headers are not installed. How much track time gain is possible?

Hey Chris its me Trey I would think you should get around 20hp or so. The hotter the engine the bigger the gain so on yours i would expect about 20 hp.

Hey Trey you know how to rig a horn?? I need it for inspection (3 months over) and I want the inspection before I take off the air pump.

If you take the smog pump off, you may not pass DEQ. If your headers will only work with the smog pump out of their way, then you could have some problems.

I believe the O2 sensor is in the exhaust manifold. Where your headers go. So if you pass Emissions before installing the headers.... in 2 years when you have no 02 sensor, and no smog pump, you'll have to reinstall all that to pass again.

Or am I wrong? I'm not 100% sure, but that's what I've gathered since I've been going through DEQ. At least here in Washington.

I'm also thinking of headers. Dont' know what's best, for performance and deq. Let us both know!

There is a bung for me to drill out the o2 sensor fittings.
