Fan/Prom conflict
Fan/Prom conflict
Ok, heres the thing. I have a fastchip stage 2. The fan kicks on at 176 and turns off at 166.
I want to run a 170* t-stat. Seems like not a problem since 170 degrees is cooler than when the fan is supposed to come on (178*)
My worry is in the summer...if the car goes over 170* the fan will kick on. I am trying to avoid a fan/Prom conflict.
I live in Delaware where we have cold winters and hot summers. So people with low degree T-stats, (160/170), what does your temp gauge read in the summer?

Yes, the turn off speed will never be attained once the fans have been engaged so they will remain on until your turn off the engine.
BTW, the reason the fan off temperature is always 5-6*F higher than the T-stat is because of the variation from T-stat to T-stat. With my Diacom I can see the difference in the T-stat opening and closing and it varies all the time within 5-6*F.

Could look at getting the chip reburnt or reprogrammed. But for the time being, yeah, looks like your stuck with a 160.
