Which TPI system will fit...
I was wondering what year TPI system will work on two piece rear main seal blocks (the ones made before '86)? Also, can you mix and match ecm's, wiring harnesses and the rest of the TPI parts from all years the TPI system was produced? For example, can a 88 wiring harness, a 86 ecm and a 89 plenum and throttle body work together? Thanks.

Its not the engine that matters, its the heads. 86 and older heads have a different bolt patter than the 87 and newer heads.
Match up TPI components between these years: 85-88 and 89-92. As long as everything is from the same style, it'll bolt together. For the wiring harness and computer, its trickier. I am not sure on the wireharness, but I know 85 is one ECM, 86-89 is another, and 90-92 is the third.

Get an 89 ecm to match your 89 plenum, it is the best MAF ecm. You can alter the harness of the 88 to work with the 89; scope out the PROM board older posts. This question has cropped up a few times.
Kevin, is bang on regarding the heads. With aftermarket bases, they generally are designed to work with both.
