Heads

I was wondering what the best heads would be for a two piece rear main seal 305 that will be using TPI. Also, what would be the best camshaft to use with heads as well. Thanks.

I'm going to send you a lot of head flow numbers from different heads that I've amassed over time.

Take look at the numbers and concentrate on those with the best low and mid lift flow. Don't swayed by max lift flow at the expense of low and mid lift flow.

As far as camshafts, I'd look at CompCams Xtreme Energy hydraulic in the 210 @ .050 range with mid .400 valve lift. Because you have a 305 instead of the larger 350, you might want to even consider one with 6 degrees less duration @ .050 with something around 204 degrees intake duration @ .050.

A lot depends on how you plan to use the engine and what additional modifications you'll make. In picking a camshaft, you need to consider the whole engine package; everything from the air filter to the tail pipe. including rear end gear ratio and transmission. Emissions, idle quality, gas mileage, etc., are also considerations.

Give CompCams a call on their toll free Tech line and they'll recommend one for you.

Hope this helps.

Jake
