my freind was wondering if you could use a distributor out of a 87 and up tpi car and get rid of his big hei coil in cap distributor? if so how do you do it?

1989 firebird formula

Mods: converted from T.B.I. to a carburator 305 to a 350. Flowmater exhaust,hedman shortie hedders,202 heads,350 horse cam,bored.40 over, Edlebrock torker2 intake.

Future mods performer rpm air gap intake (polished) and 600 edlebrock carb, comp roller cam, and way better headsa 400 defintely in the works!

 

One big problem with that. The spark advance on the 87 and newer HEI distributors is controlled by the computer. If he's simply looking for a smaller distributor, I'd suggest the Mallory Unilite distributor. It's an electronic non points unit that's the same size as the old points distributors and the newer ones.

ok but the unilite isn't computer controlled how do you get around that with tpi!
