Question for all you TPI intake base porters

I am finishing up porting my base intake. In the bottom of each runner is a hole approximately 1/8" in diameter through which EGR gas is introduced. I know that some amount of metal filings must have gone into these holes. What methods did you use to remove these metal chips and how did you ensure that there were none left?

I flushed mine with water and blew it out with compressed air. I did it several times.

Ditto, except I used spray brake cleaner with air.

You guys didn't attempt to remove the plugs in the bottom of the manifold?

I did remove the plugs on the bottom. Didn't have an allen large enough though so I found a bolt with a head size that fit and welded a tee-handle on it. Now I have another odd tool rattling around in the bottom of my box

I thought those holes were for the 9th injector's fuel? And the EGR goes up thru the tube on the passenger runner and into the plenum?

I didnt worry about the shavings, just blew out the base with compressed air.

If I remember correctly those passages are for the 9th injector/IAC air for cars that used MAF systems. All year TPI's also use it for the PVC system. The EGR gases get routed to the ports in the plenum right behind the throttle body.

There is a passage from the back of the manifold where the EGR pipe ties in, to the EGR valve and then to the front of the manifold. These holes are drilled into this passage. If I blow a cleaner into the EGR passage, it comes out in the ports of the intake through these holes.

I don't know. Maybe its a Corvette manifold thing? I have three non-Corvette TPI intakes. None of them allow EGR gas to flow to those 1/8" runner ports.

I flushed out the holes with grease cutter first, then flushed it with brake cleaner, and finally compressed air.

Good luck!
