Used a '91 TPI base on '86 heads

I bought this '92 base, ported it, and it worked amazing at the track, see this page with the mods I did, after 11 runs, I added, well 10 mph, which is 100 hp, I went from a 15.1 at 89 mph to a 13.81 at 99 mph, then was running into traction problems. The last burnout I did in the car, was 150ft, with the lakewood control arms, and panhard bar, so it worked well, but I broke the 3-4 clutch pack at the track. But I bought it with 138K on the car, and I don't think it was maintained well enough. I just took a transmission class and already rebuild a 700-r4, so I know a bit about, well all about those transmissions.

But I knew that in order to use that '91 base with these World Sportsman II heads, I was going to have to take out the die-grinder on the center two bolts on both sides of the intake. I took out this one bit I use for porting aluminum, and used my die grinder like I was a machine, and slowly, slowly; removed all the material to get the bolts in the right 23* position, by looking at the front and back bolts on the side I was grinding, to see that the middle bolts were in the right position.

I Must warn you, do this by checking the intakes middle two bolts on each head, while trying to see if you removed enough material. If you look at the other bolts, and grind away the right amount of aluminum, you could also have this work for you. Yeah it's a pain in the PITA! But I got these '86-older heads for a great deal, so I had to do some grinding, but it's not horrible if you've ported heads or intakes, I have already, so. Just do a lot of checking, I even used a die-caliper to double check that these would work ok, if you do, it should be fine.

I just thought I'd let you know, that YES it is possible, with time and understanding of your motor and bolt angles.
