Vortec Tpi

Today was the day it was going to come out, but it doesn't look too good. I e-mailed tech at sdpc last night and this is their response:

There has been another delay in the production of the vortec TPI manifold. The first run of manifolds that were scheduled for release in early February did not make it to the machining process because of a core shift in the castings. This will now push the release date back until the middle of April. We apologize for the delay, and hope you will bear with us through the development of this new intake.

What a bust!!! Oh well, just trying to keep everyone updated. If they don't stop messing around with this thing I might have to find a vortec alternative...mabey dart iron eagles. Any other head suggestions for a mild(~325 hp)350 tpi build-up, I would like to keep my low end torque that I have grown to love.
Thanks guys, Dan

Wow, what a bust, I guess that "really" means April 2002 ? Ahh, I'm gonna sell my vortec heads now and buy a set of trickflow's, get a cam, port the stock tpi and call it a day. It's actually about even in price by the time we buy the 400.00 tpi vortec intake, have screw in studs put in the heads, and better springs added in.

JJ-they didn't say anyhting about 2002, or at least I didn't think so. I thought they were talking about later next month. Oh well, I think you have a good idea with those trick flows. I have a CHP mag with an article in it claiming that the new 23' heads are worth 67 hp over a set of 'gm iron 441 castings that had recived a minor bowl cleanup'. These #'s are very impressive but I wonder how well these heads would match up to our tpi? Peak hp in this test was at 5,600 rpm which seems way past the 4,800 we are looking for with tpi. These also have 195 cc runners, isn't this again too much for us? I would like to consider these heads as a vortec alternative but I think somthing like a 180 cc dart iron eagle would be better for our low end torque, which is what I love about our engines! Anybody have any more info on this?????
