I am a big fan of the LT4 Hot Cam. Its the one I am currently installing in my car. I think you could also look at the ZZ9, but its like $400, the LT4 HC is only $180 or so.

Its a great cam for a stock or mild 350 engine. Its my opinion that the LT4 HOT cam requires better heads, intake, and exhaust to make it work up to its potential. Dont forget to get new valve springs too if you're keeping your stock heads.

I have the ZZ9 but all that I read I would get the LT4 Hot cam just cause it is cheaper. I think with some good chip programming, which you could do, your car wouls run like a RAPED APE!
Just make sure you REALLY PORT the intake and heads as much as you can or get new heads and intake.
Don't get me wrong the ZZ9 is great but I spent alittle over $400.00 to get it new!
And I could of had the LT4 Hot cam for half. And I could of had my edelbock intake now instead of the stock!
Good Luck!

Stallone,
The ZZ9, if I'm correct, requires a roller setup, good if your have a roller LB9(305 TPI), bad if not. All 87+ blocks are roller blocks (in thirdgens) If not, you'll need retrofit hydraulic roller lifters, but they cost around $350. Then you'll need new pushrods. I believe you'll also need new springs specially for the cam. You'll also want a cam button or something of that nature. The ZZ9 is good for a TPI motor that will see street/strip use...the powerband is from 2-6k, so you'll want to be sure your 305 is up to making that kind of power in that range. Having TPI, you'll want a ported upper plenum, ported or aftermarket lower, large-tube or siamesed runners, and a computer chip just for that cam. 1500-200 stall converter and a TB airfoil wont hurt, but if you're doing that, why not use a 350 with a miniram and a set of 24# injectors? Same powerband with harder pulling power and less airflow restriction. I guess it comes down to choice. I'll be using a 383 miniram with the ZZ9 and TFS heads for my future motor, but right now I'm just concentrating on getting a 350 to drive around.

Is the LT4 Hot Cam a roller cam? I have a pre-87 block and I don't want to spend the bucks on retrofit lifters. Also, what are the specs on the LT4 Hot Cam. Is there a website I can check this out?

Look at the cam tech article on this website for cam suggestions. Yes the LT4 HOT cam is a roller cam.
