Hey guys I've just put in 3:73 gears a my speedometer is of 20 MPH. How many teeth do i need for the speedo gear. I now have 22teeth.
The dealer can't tell me, they don't know.

You need a 7 tooth drive gear and a 21 tooth driven gear for 3.73 gears and 245/50-16" tires.

The T5 uses a completely different gear set than a 700. I know i have both. Make sure You get ones listed under a 5spd, not md8(cant remember rpo for t5).

There should be no confusion, since there are no 7 drive or 21 driven gears for the MD8, or 700R4.

You might have a problem at the dealer tho, I think GM stopped making the 21 tooth T5 gear last year. Try SLP.

 

Ok I have done this swap and you may have a problem finding the 21 tooth gear cause it has been discontinued. The exact part #'s you need are 14071731 purple 7 tooth...which is still produced and can be ordered, and 14090582 21tooth, I think yellow or light brown gear. The way I found the 21 tooth gear gm part # 14090582...is that I went to partsvoice.com and searched there and I found a gm deal rather close to me that had the part in stock. I searched the website for you and here is what came up...so u can call theses three places and see if they have they have it for you and have them ship it to you.
