For those of you running 383's

Although I'm a TBI'er i know that there are more of you running 383's in here than in the TBI room. It not fuel related anyway... I was wondering what depth pan you are using on your thirdgen's. It seems that the only pan i can use is the 8 1/4" deep pan. (i have the moroso 20180). This pan sits very low on my car leaving only about 5-6" between the pan and that hard thing called the ground. I called Summit and Jeg's and both of them said that the stock pans have the wider rails where you bolt it down and the one i have has a narrow rail which is why it leaves room for the extra rotaion (since you also have to notch the block). BTW.. im using a pre-80 block .. but i think thats irrelevant - (Just In Case).

What pans are you using and how much clearance to you have?

Thanks for your help

I am running a stock pan and a windage screen. There is not a lot of clearance but I don't know why you'd have a problem. A friend of mine ran a scat crank and had to slightly open up the block and pan rails, but no big deal. He also ran a stock oil pan.
