Cam made for TPI ... on a carbed engine
Cam made for TPI ... on a carbed engine
I'm currently working on a 350 to replace the tired LG4 in my Camaro. I have a complete TPI system, but with spring coming, I really want to get the engine in and then worry about the TPI. So, probably for most of spring (while I save up for a Painless wiring harness, among other things), I will be running a carb on my 350.
However, when it is all said and done, I want my engine to be setup for the TPI. For my cam, I'm choosing one Lingenfelter makes for the L98 ( http://secure.techservices.net/fwistore/ showdetl.cfm?&DID=85&User_ID=176234&st=8083&st2=-44181788&st3=-93321154&Product_ID=101&CATID=3 ), first cam on the page. If I throw this cam in, will it run like **** with a carb? Are they really that different?
Thanks!

did you already know that I run an LPE camshaft in my camaro?
Those cams are great for street & drag racing either EFI or carb. They would not be best in endurance type racing (roundy round), but I don't think we have many of those people at this site.
I would suggest going with a hydraulic roller. They act even milder for streetability and make even more power.
I love LPE camshafts, so I always suggest them.

Unfortunetly, this is a rather budget buildup, and spending 320 bucks on a cam/lifters is too much when I could spend 155. Would I really notice that much of a difference?
Thanks for the reply though; I was pretty sure that the LPE L98 cam would work ok under a carb, but I didn't want to be wrong and doing a cam swap down the road -=)

Probably work good with a dual plane and a small (600 650 cfm) carb
