LS1 Injectors and TPI?
LS1 Injectors and TPI?
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on this topic, and was looking for an answer.
- Is it O.K. to use LS1 fuel injectors on a TPI intake??
- Are there any mods that need to be done, such as larger o-rings??
The reason I ask is because I plan on going forced induction very soon, and I can't seem to find any TPI-specific injectors that flow more than 36#.
Thanks.

Jamy Lippencott at LS Racing chips (303.575.4162) uses LS1 injectors on TPI engines. Try giving him a call.

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
They will work. I have heard that some peole have issues with the height of the stand offs on the lower intake manifold. They just need to be machined down. The latest accel injectors from summit are pretty decent and priced right. They are differnet from what you got a year ago. The shop I moonlight at ordered a set of 30lbs injectors and they no longer use the plastic pintle design. Instead they use some sort of three holed orrifice at the end. The seem to work real well. My personal fall back, are the ford racing injectors.

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
Wow misinformation galore. LS1 injectors are shorter than the standard TPI injectors, this will cause you absolutly ZERO issues if you do a very small mod to the injector bodies and reuse your stock clips. Just search my name for threads I've started I did a write up on it complete with pics. The LS1 injectors are also rated at 4 bar not 3. This means they expect to see 60psi of fuel pressure instead of 45, simple solution is to divide them down (28 pounders turn to 25's) or turn the fuel pressure up to the appropriate level.

"Wow misinformation galore"
I don't think I said anything much different than you did? I said some peope have problems with the length. Personally I have used two sets no problems.

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
Thanks for the info guys. 1991CamaroRslow, I found the thread about cutting the groove into the injectors, for the clips. I'll be sure to try that.
What is the math behind figuring the new flow rate (lb/hr) of an injector that is being run at 45psi instead of 60psi??
DAVECS1, I believe the "misinformation" post was directed more towards the prior post, saying that LS1 injectors are LONGER. Just thought I would try to clear that up.
Thanks again!

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
I'm not sure how the math for the injectors works but I know the 28's flow around 25 pounds at 43.5 psi. There's a post on here about it with actual flow numbers. As for just sticking the injectors in and leaving them, sure you can do this; a friend of mine did this with some LS1 injectors on his LT1. One day we were sitting there looking at his engine when I watched one of the injectors drop and spray fuel all over the intake. You may never run into this issue but if you do I'm sure you realize how bad it could be. Fuel plus exhaust manifolds equals trouble about every time.

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
What about spray pattern?
I´m using LS1 injektors and run them at appr. 47 psi.
Does anyone know if they have a good spray pattern at this pressure or do they need a higher setting since they are rated at/designed for 60 psi?

Cutting down the mounts will do the same thing as modifying the stand offs.

Re: LS1 Injectors and TPI?
The spray pattern is better than what you get out of stock injectors. Also putting them in without cutting down the standoffs or whatever is nice because they no longer protrude into the intake runner. When I was porting my intake I used this to raise the roof a little more and smooth everything out. These injectors are superior to the old style in pretty much every way, there's no real reason not to go with them.

On the Jegs website, Ford Motorsports has 41,42 and 52 lb injectors...if you are interested for TPI applications.

I've got them and use them currently on my 89 Formula. I had them on the Camaro as well but made the move to 42's for the blower
