86 TPI onto L69 - (non stock)Cam Compatibility.
I'm planning on removing the ZZ4 intake & Q-jet and going with the complete TPI from an 86 Iroc (it ran and drove, but was hit so hard in the back, it was scrap) so I have everything.
The L69 has 140,000 on it and compression check puts all cylinders between 155 & 160psi.
I have an energizer 272 Crane Cam, specs @ http://www.cranecams.com/master/apps...3.%20Energizer
Stock exh. manifolds. Running 6 Deg. BTDC. I'm at 5500 feet altitude.
3.73 posi, and 84 T5 w/ hydraulic throwout (going to mechanical & world class soon)
Can someone tell me if the cam w/ the TPI will run like snot? I wasn't wanting to get a PROM burned, or buy headers right now; I just wanted drivability and to pass emissions (I can put a non gutted L69 cat on if need be)
Eventual plans are LT1 & T56 so I wasn't going to go wild with parts thrown at this combo.
Thoughts?
TIA

216º intake duration and 110 lobe separation will make that engine lope! Plus the computer might not like it... Since you've got the stock TPI and exhaust manifolds, stick to a cam with 204-208 intake duration at .050" and 112-114 LSA.

Anyone had anything similar? Did it run decent? Did it pass or fail emissions? Did it completely **** the ECM off?
Surely I'm not the only one who has overcammed...
Thanks Kevin. Yes it does lope
If I had the $ for PROM &/or cam, I'd rather just put that towards the LT1 plans.
