Runs Rough

After spending hours on this and throwing in a spark controll modual, and cap and rotor, testing the ignition controll modual 10X to get it hot perfect. The car still would not run. It finally fired up and sounded like the timing was way off. Every thing is connected properly such as spark plug wires, verified several times. fired it up again to see if we could get her to throw a code and she refused this simple request while belching fire out the intake and popping. Ran like this for a good minuite or two. I would stand on it and could not get the RPM's over 2k. We decided to try one more thing before we threw a Lit match down the gas tank. We disconected the brown wire in the harness on the fire wall by the A/C delete box. This wire is to be disconected when making adjustments to the timing. Amazingly enough she decided to quit belching and ran smooth however I did need to keep my foot on the gas to keep it around 1K or the motor would die. We still have no idea what the problem could be. I am considering replacing the knock sensor to see if that helps. Any help would help!!!!
