Car smoking at 80 mph?....why?

I have a 87 IROC-Z28 that is supposed to have a rebuilt L98 in it. It runs great until i get up till about 80 mph and a **** load of smoke comes out of my tail pipes. I mean this is not a little bit of smoke but something like a smoke screen. This is very bad but does not do it until i punch it for a few seconds and get it up to 4000 rpm's or 80 mph. That is around when it happens everytime. Can anyone help me with this?

Sounds like a crankcase pressure problem. Check your PCV valve and the fresh air intake (on other valve cover). The PCV should rattle when you shake it. If everything is OK then your rings are shot. You can temporarily fix it by using a beather in the PCV hole and plugging the intake where it hooks up.

What color smoke?

Blue or black?

Makes a big difference. Blue you have a problem with the oiling system, black you are running rich.
