Trick Flow G2 heads

I was told when I bought my trick flow heads that they all had crapy valve guides and would need to be reworked after 10,000 miles. I am now closing in on that mileage ,and they are still running great. I was wondering how many people loved ,or hated there TFS G2 heads.

I think some people have trouble with guide wear because they don't use the correct length pushrods with the twisted wedge heads.
The intake valves are offset and are further from the lifter than the exhaust valve. This requires a slightly longer pushrod (intake) to keep the correct rocker geometry. This means that you need two different length pushrods with those heads.
If the rocker geometry is off then there will be greatly increased guide and seat wear.
I've run my twisted wedge heads since 1996 and had no problems with guide wear yet.

are the 23* twisted or inline? I imagine they are inline because nowhere is canted mentioned anywhere in their information, but then again they've gotten a lot of grief over the problems associated w/ their canted (twisted wedge style) heads.

I have been told that I might have to use two difernt length pushrods, but when I put this motor together I mesured both intake and exhoust and both were ok. The 23* are not wedge heads.

The G2's should be fine. The problem was on the G1's. I just had my G1's rebuilt. As far as I can tell, there are several problems, one which I created. The springs suck. I broke 10 inner springs with a mild cam. And you need proper valve train geometry to protect the guides. (my fault for not checking). Although in my defence it was the exaust valves that were bad, not the intake, which is the different one.

FWIW, the G2's & G1's are canted or Twisted. The 23* are not.

I talked to a local machinest a while back about this. He said installing bronze guides takes care of most of the wear problems and considers it manditory for TW heads.
