Car won't crank! Q:Would anything blow or short because of starting car without ESC?

I have an '87 GTA 350 TPI. I disconnected the Electronic Spark Control Module (Don't ask me why, crazy idea) and when I turned the key it had a split-second of cranking and turning over then went dead - no noise, but still had full power to everything. I have full power to all accessories, hatch, gauges, radio. I hear the fuel pump click on when the ignition switch is turned to on-start but other that that nothing, no sound or activity. I am showing good voltage at battery and on gauge. Now I'm stuck in driveway since car wont crank. I have had some insights based on another post I have but I am posting this since it is more specific; perhaps new thoughts? Please help if you can. Thanks!

Update:
I tested all my fusable links to make sure they had voltage on both side of link for each one. I then investigated the purple wire going to the starter. I noted it had "0" voltage and imagined that the when you turn the key it drops 12 volts on it to start starter. So I tested my theory by tapping into the purple wire and then touching it to the 12-volt post of battery (with the key turned to on of course) and BOOM it cranked over without a hitch! So now I must investigate why when I turn the key it doesnt drop 12 volts onto the purple wire. Any ideas? Thanks!

Where does the purple wire go? I'd look at my car if it wern't all torn apart...if it's part of the battery cable, and it's not loose, I say you're safest replacing the posisive battery cable and the starter. If the voltage is going into the starter you know that's your problem. If it's not it's probably the cable. Your car probably has alot of miles on it now, right? It's probably almost time. You may have a starter solenoid going bad, but couldn't tell the way your post was written (maybe it's me). If the solenoid is going bad, replace the starter and solenoid anyway. Just get good quality parts.
