will i have problems with long tubes and TPI?

I have put a 92 TPI engine into a 85 truck and I am down to the exhaust. The stock camaro manifolds will not work and neither will the truck ones. I am looking at some 1 5/8" stainless long tube headers that should fit fine. the question is how will it effect the performance? I prefer not to mess with any tuning isssues.
thanks
chris

You'll probably need to also consider having a 02 bung added into your header selection.

Tuning shouldn't be an issue.......... For most of us it's an fitment issue, but you would have lots of room underneath a half ton!!!!!!
By the way, long tubes make more torque

yeah you wont need to start worrying about the tuning unless youre swapping camshaft, cylinder heads, intake manifold etc. headers wont make much, if ANY difference at all for the stock computer and how it runs/fuel economy wise. you probably will get better gas mileage with the more free flowing exhaust manifolds than if you kept the stockers.

i recommend hooker headers, i have the super competition long tubes on my camaro... but i have ground clearance problems, you wont.

I just installed hedman long tube headers with 2.5" true duals into bullet mufflers that dump before the axel. Its runs great. No tuning and no problems so far.

Yeah, consider it a blessing that you can actually run the long tubes without the clearance problems they have when going into a stock thirdgen. There's really no downside to your situation. Lots of thirdgen owners want to run long tubes, but dread the clearance problems. As long as you install the 02 sensor, you shouldn't have any issues. Sometimes you have to run the 3 wire, heated 02 sensor though, since the collector on a long tube header is further down the exhaust path, where the temps aren't hot enough sometimes for the sensor to read properly.
