Spring project - need help!!!

OK, spring is here, I just broke up with my g/f, and I have *LOTS* of free time on my hands, so that can mean only one thing: Time to dump more money into my car!

I've already acquired a good portion of my TPI setup to go go in my beloved 1980 Camaro.
Having never done a project of this magnitude before, I have some questions:
The motor in it is a 1988 Cop Car 350, the Imapala it came from had either a 4-bbl or TBI...

1)Knock sensor - does it go in the block or the intake manifold?

2) Distributor - Can I use a computer controlled distributor from a TBI or whatever car from the mid 80's, or do I have to use a divorced coil distributor?

3) Can you use washers to bolt a pre-87 baseplate up to the newer style heads? I have that done now on my Edelbrock intake, but that doesnt mean it will work with TPI!
(p.s. if anyone has a baseplate/fuel rail theyre not doing anything with, EMAIL ME!)

Thanks! I'm sure ill have another bunch of dumb questions to keep you all busy with after you answer these for me!
Thank you all, it's because of your input and experience that I can even attempt such a project!

1) In the block, passenger side. Sometimes on older blocks you have to tap the clutch pivot pin hole and mount it there.

2) A distibuter from a TBI, TPI (not vette), or many gm trucks well into the 90's can be had. I'm not really sure if TPI will work with the older distribs, but if they did you would have to hack up the harness.

3) Just use a carbide burr and change the angle of the bolt hole (carfully) and use liquid teflon on the bolts. Go back and tighten them snug a couple times after warm/cool cycles. Mine became looser than finger tight in a week (luckily somehow my coolant passages didn't blow through!)

Joel - would the knock sensor hole be cast into an 88 350 block?
And is there any other way to mount it?

p.s. can I use 305 injectors on basically a stock 350 or will that create a lean condition?

Yes, the 88 block has the hole for it. I couldn't figure out what motor you were putting it on.

For fuel, the 305 injectors work fine on a stock 350 motor with the fuel pressure around 50 psi, so a afpr will be needed.
