Well now that I know I have a 305...
I'd like to see what I can get it to do!
At this point, with my sticky tires, on dry pavement, from a dead stop from normal idle, itll roast tires for like 10feet! It goes good off the line, but not so much 4500ish -> (I know this is somewhat normal for TPI setup.)
What would you guys do, to keep a streetable / emission compliment 305. I have an L98 in my storage unit, but Id like to build it up, and want something fun while Im building heh.
Any cam suggestions?
Would l98 Heads make any notable difference?
Is the 350 chip in there hurting me at all?

I wouldnt bother adding heads or a cam. Especially since You already have an L98 sittin around. Worry about what cam You wanna use in the L98! Try making the car quicker without modding the longblock. Get some aftermarket suspension parts, a higher stall coverter, shift kit, headers, play with timing + fuel pressure etc. Buy parts that would compliment and can be used on a bigger/ better motor in the future. Heck, You could always give Your car a nice kick in the pants with a little 75 shot of NOS. You've got many, many options.

Vortec heads, Vortec TPI base manifold, nice roller cam that can be re-used in the 350. Also full exhaust. Port the plenum.

Did you say you're running a 350 chip in it? That is a bad idea, get that thing out of there, it has the wrong injector constants unless you have 350 injectors too.
the aluminum L98 heads will make a huge difference on a 305 with the proper cam and exhaust.
I'm a hardcore 305 guy but even I'll say, if you have a 350 read to build, leave the 305 alone. If you must spend money spend it on stuff that will swap over. The previous suggestions were good ones. do suspension, exhaust, etc.

I see you already have a 3:73 gear. I agree with everyone here though.
Build up the 350.
But everything you get for the 350......will fit your 305.
Thats what I plan on doing once I get a 350, just swap the top ends.
Your car looks really nice btw.

agree with most above, and only tackle the outside of the engine. Headers, pullys, suspension, transmission. And yes, SWAP THE PROM, or learn to custom tune one. So when you drop the 350 in, it will be easier to tune it.
As I said in the other thread, you can gain speed/power back out of your suspension that it robs. As well, all the power in the world is no good if you cant make it due what you want.
