Return Line Pressure?

On my '80 Camaro, someone told me I can use the original fuel line as my return line. Will that work/handle the pressure?
That would make life easy because I would only have to run ONE line instead of two.

I'm looking at an aftermarket fuel pump for $115 that makes something like 115 psi. I'll be using around 42-45 of that so that leaves around 70 to be returned, right?

Someone on the second gen board told me that I could simply use the original fuel line that feeds the carburetor now as my return line, so that I only have to run ONE high pressure line from the pump to the fuel rail.
