ZZ4 or LT1 Cam in my 305?
I have a stock 305 TPI that I am putting in my 89 Camaro (I have the wiring harness, ecm and fuel pump).
I have a ZZ4 cam (which will be part of my 383 build in a few years) and an LT1 cam.
Since the engine is out of the car a cam swap is easiest to do now, I was wondering which cam should I put in my 305?
I realize that if I install the ZZ4 that I would have change the springs for the increase in lift over the stock spring. With a LT1 cam I do not need to swap springs.
I have no plans to modify the engine (execpt maybe port the stock heads a bit). The car has Edelbrock Jet-Hot coated headers, 3.42 strange gears, 3" exhaust and an auburn diff (all in the sig)
What cam do you think is best?

Re: ZZ4 or LT1 Cam in my 305?
ZZ4 will need clearancing to allow for the large exhaust lift. shim the springs up or grind down the guide boss. shimming the springs along with .050 offset locks will give you near .530 lift but thats cutting it too close with the ZZ4's .520 exhaust lift i think it is. i'd also do screw in studs for that lift
therefore i'd go LT1 cam. i'd like to see it with 1.6 rockers to gain more lift. brings it up to something like .476/.490. shim the springs up with offset locks and those heads will handle it. get new springs anyway for that setup. Even if you stick with 1.5 rockers its a good idea to get fresh parts in there
