86 305 TPI Trans Am

ok, bought another car, a 86 Transam with 305 tpi. didnt have fuel, but would idle if i sprayed gas in the throttle body. Needed a water pump changed before i started on the fuel pump. changed the water pump, didnt unhook the battery like i should, (Stupid Me) and as i was relining up the alternator it grounded out a pipe by the throttle body. sparks and all that happy fun. well now i have no spark. checked the coil and the ignition module at 2 differant autozones. one even ran the tester on the module like 10 times, all green lights. both are good i guess. brother ran his 89 gta on my computer with his prom, so the computer is fine. i need to really get this car sparking. so if anyone could let me know what would possibly have gotten shorted out that i need to replace it would really be helpful.

thank you

Umm, distributor?

Do any other electronics work?

Do you have access to another distributor?

It seems to me that the distributor is the only thing that you haven't checked.

Alternator could have died to, but I don't think so if all your other electronic things work...

Yeah, I love how the earlier TPI motors had special distributors...not sure what the morons at GM were thinking then...

Is there power to the distributor (pink/black wire) with the ignition ON? You may have cooked one of the fuse links during that alternator incident.
