Could breather line OFF valve cover cause high idle?
I had a sticking idle for a few weeks. It wouldn't go down. Sometimes after driving for wuite a while it would though, but it wouldn't idle high all the time. I found out that my pass.side breather line to the TB was off. I put it on and now runs great! Was that all it was? Possibly sucking air in TB thru it and causing lean condition? Screwing with the PCV system too? Just curious

That was most likely the cause of your troubles. I have seen some TBs get sticky and not close all the way on their own whe the car is running. I don't think you need to worry about that if your car runs to specs now. Maybe give the TB a quick clean up if it hasn't been de-carboned in a while - never hurts to clean that thing up, especially the IAC passage.

GTA,
If you had MAF ('85-89) you would have known about the problem almost immediately because of the probable code '34'.
Yes, your idle and mixture were probably suffering due to higer than expected MAP readings and the addition of excess idle air.

Thanks guys! Just the answers I was wanting to hear. Thats kind of what I figured/hoped. As far as cleaning out all the carbon in the TPI unit... I plan on doing it when I put the built L98 in this summer.
*I do have a can of GM upper engine cleaner sitting hear. I was told to spray the $HIT out of the TB and inside the plenum, then unhook the AIR stuff and go run the $HIT out of my car for awhile. Is this worth while or BS? Thanks
