Manifold question

I have an Edelbrock hi-Flow base and need a question answered. On the back of the manifold, between the dist hold down and the EGR boss, there is a fine threaded hole. What is it for????

The only reason I am asking is that the hole goes into the rear coolant passage. If it is not used, then I will find a way to plug it....just seems like it was made for a sensor of some kind(fine threaded).

Thanks..
