Hey guys I am looking at buying some cylinder heads. Does anyone have the edelbrock heads? How effective are they?

Which ones? They have a few different models that will work with TPI.

The two heads most recommended are the Trick Flow 195's and the AFR Eliminator 195's, but they arent as effective with a stock cam and stock TPI intake.

Re: edelbrock TPI cylinder heads

yeah thats the trouble that I am having. I live in california so what ever I put on it has to be emissions legal. I wanted to run a ZZ9 cam shaft to but it does not have a CARB # on it. Eventually I want to put an baseplate and some largetube runners on the car. I am getting all the parts so I can just swap everything at once.

I don't know about CARB#'s, but can't you run any heads as long as you retain EGR? If so, you should be able to buy an EGR kit from Scoggin-Dickey that will route the EGR gases from your headers to your intake (thus retaining EGR).

Just wondering.

Re: edelbrock TPI cylinder heads

Dont worry about camshafts. The ZZ9 is mild enough to pass smog easily. Heck, we're running 224/232 camshafts here in SoCal and passing smog cleaner than stock. What part of CA are you at? Our members with ZZ9 camshafts are running low 13's and getting 25+ MPG.
Can you burn your own chips or do you know someone who can? That's the secret. Larger cams are easy when you have access to the computer.

Re: edelbrock TPI cylinder heads

I am in the bay area in northern california. I don't burn chips but I would have to get one made. I was looking at getting a ZZ9 cam and the edlebrock cylinder heads. Also with a aftermarket base and large tube runners. I think this would make a strong street engine which is where I drive 99% of the time.

So you guys think that my combo would be able to pass smog once I got a chip burned?

Does the ZZ9 cam sound like the stock L98 camshaft at idle?
