power trouble
I have a 87 350 TPI W/ 2200 stall, hypertech chip,AFPR,26psi injectors, flowmaster exhaust. Now,here's my problem,my car does not run any stronger than my 305 I had in it before I put the 350 and all the extras in it.My SES light comes on after about ten minutes of driving, but no change in driveability. It idles good and has exelent response, strong out of the hole but do to the stall.I just raced a 2000 stang gt and I could not pull on him an inch,I should have been able to.Summit says I might be to high on fuel pressure but if that was the case I would have poor idling, which I don't.Any suggestions?
Is your hypertech chip custom burned to your mods? If not you could begin to burn your own. Or you could bring the car to someone who will burn you a custom chip. If you do this let the person have/use your car, do not just tell them your mods on the phone and expect a great chip.

I am gonna put it on the scanner today and find out but if I turn the car off and restart it,it goes off,and ten min. later shes on again.I just don't under stand why I am not at least stronger in the torque field and faster on top end,I can barely peg 118 120 if I realy push it but the engine is not realy broke in yet.
Also my fuel pressure is set at 48psi and the timing is set at 8 BTDC.To be perfectly honest I do not know what gear ratio my rear end has.I beleive it is a 2.77 but could be wrong.
I just put the scanner on and it gave 4 codes,MAF(brand new)O2sensor(brand new)EST (electronic spark timing),I forgot the fourth one.Anyway I never had any codes untill I changed motors, also Iran the data stream on the scanner and it stayed in a open loop running lean now how can that be?

I changed timing,no good I still have the pinging and I run super unlead. My O2 sensor was unplugged so I plugged it in.SES went out and on my way to work came on again.Injectors are 24 psi not 26 and pressure was set at 38 not 48 so I booted it up some and made slight difference.I also found my exhaust pipe near the back at the axle was crimped almost shut from them dropping it or something so I have to much back pressure and I wonder if it could set the SES off?I am going to try to put the 305 factory chip back in to see what changes it will make.I also have vibration at higher RPMs and don't know why.I think the fools who put my car together didn't know their Elbow from their A**-Hole.
for the code 42, you can find out if the est is what is bad by checking the base timing, then check the timing without bypassing it, if the est is still plugged in it should be about 20's, if it is still at the base timing with it plugged in the est is bad, maybe a bad wire or ecm

If your exhaust pipe is smashed as bad as you said then that could be alot of your problems.
Ever driven a car with a collapsed cat? They idle fine, have generally good throttle response (due to a great amount of back pressure), but once you open em up they really strain, and typically have very little power.
If your exhaust has very little flow capacity, its most likely choking your engine.
Just try running it with the exhaust disconnected before the crimp, and see what happens.
The codes for the o2 could be becuase the exhaust isn't escaping the pipe fast enough and its hangning around the sensor too long messing it up.
Hope some of this helps.
