Please Stop me from putting a carb on my 1992.
I am stumped. I am about to carb this motor. The motor is a 1986 TBI Motor that I put in out of a Camaro, ran great in the camaro. Nothing I do works. Rewind 1 week. The car will turn over like the timing is too advanced. Ok. I started reading and saw that the TPI knock sensor is different then the TBI knock sensor. Ok, spend $50 on a knock sensor. Now today. This is when problems start. I gor it to start 1 time for about 3 seconds, and stalled. Then I messed with the timing. Advanced it, and it would strugggle to turn over. Retard it and it would just spin. No fire. Nothing I do makes this POS want to run. It has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and clean air filter. The fuel pump does turn on. I really dont want to carb it, but is is leaving me no choice. I need thos to get to work.
Thanks Guys.

are you sure you have the distrubetor in correctly?
it sounds like you are tooth off
unplug the EST connector 1 wire connecter brown and white stripe near the blower fan motor
have some one hit the key when you turn the distrubertor if you have to turn it far to get it to start then you are a tooth off
i had this trouble when i did my tbi to tpi swap
i ended up just turning the motor by hand till i got the line on the balancer to be at 0* took me a few trys some how keep putting it in backwards then finaly i got it to fire but it would just die i ended up it was a tooth off
i turned it as far as i could and wam it fired right up i then pulled the distrubetor rotated the oil pump screw and put it back in ran with no more issues till i got it on the highway thats when i remembered i forgot to install the tpi knock sensor then after a lukewarm coolent bath it ran flawlessly
tpi will run with tbi knock sensor but it will run like crap at higher rpm
why would you want to carb it you end up with less torque and crappy mileage

Because a carb would make this motor run. I got beat by a v6 Ford Ranger the other day. It is slow, boggy, bad allaround.
I will try it, thanks!
